For older kids who are involved in sports, a head injury received during a contact sport should be closely watched because it doesn't take as much force to cause brain trauma when involved in a sporting accident.

Car accidents that cause a head injury should always be taken seriously and anyone involved in a car accident should be seen by a doctor or hospital to rule out a severe brain injury. Most head injuries can be prevented, but not all. It is important to do everything you can to keep your family safe. If you have infants and toddlers you need to make sure to keep baby gates up to protect them from falling down stairs, for children that are old enough to play outside you should make sure to keep an eye on them and they should always were helmets when skating, biking, and skateboarding. Older children who are involved in sports should be taught, by their coaches, the proper way to play the sport in order to reduce the chances of a head injury.

If the person with the head injury is experiencing any of these symptoms it is important to take them to the emergency room or call 911 to get them help.
